Accessing Science reading materials
Currently, we are transitioning to the Next Generation Science Standards. I will be using both Holt and other state created materials. Our Holt textbook can be accessed on-line:
my.hrw.com username: funn8 password: 6science
There is a Spanish and English version. Both have audio components so it can read to your student. It also provides note taking features. I strongly recommend students use this textbook when preparing for a test, their science note journals, and homework. There are also excellent support visual aids which we will look at in-class. Assignments from the Interactive Reader are due on Fridays - students may make corrections or additions on a separate piece of paper and resubmit them.
Class Notes:
3/31/2015 Blendspace: Volcanoes
03/20/15 Plate Tectonic Lab, Video
9/12/14
9/19/14
10/22/14 - Mapping PBL

Thinking like a Scientist/Engineer
The Common Core requires students to focus on process, asking questions that go beyond what can I find in the book, to what do I already know from my experience and connecting it to new content. Students are expected to use informational reading skills and demonstrate their thinking through writing and using technology. Please ask your student questions about what they are learning and feel free to contact me.
